tranny pan gasket

I know that this part is cheap to get but i am planning to drain my tranny fluid and change the filter since i dont know when was the last time that the previous owner had done this.

So is it necessary to change a new gasket if the old one is still usable like not worn or torn and so, that there's not even a tranny leak form the gasket yet?

If you think of it as preventative maintenance, change the gasket. Let's say the old gasket starts leaking in a month or two, then you have to do the procedure over again.

Filter kits come with a gasket. I see no reason not to change it.
