piston pin type

I have a 2000 corolla, are the piston pins pressed into the rods, or are there circlips on the side of the pistons (floating type) pins?

Trying to figure out how long my car will be out of commission.

Yes, I love the car, REALLY love the mileage (between 39 and 33) so far, but burning a quart in a 1000 miles bugs the heck out of me. I am planning on doing just an "in house" (leave engine block in the car). I want to replace the pistons with the new style, rings, rod bearings, and gaskets. I rebuilt a honda a couple years ago and the pins were held in with clips. I used to race and built my own small block fords and those pins were press in style meaning a machine shop would have to heat the rods to get the pins out and in, but also FE Fords use floating pins similar to the honda.

I guess I want to know before I start so I can find out how long the car will be out of comission.

umm. no. most are a full floating pin. most engines before 1989 had pressed pins. now is a much different story.

our 1zz uses a full floating pin.
