power window switch?

I have a 2000 corolla with a power window dilema. The window on the driver side will go down. But only got up slowly or stop all together. The window will go up with help by pushing on the outside of the glass.

1 I have taken the switch out and sprayed with a cleaner with no change.
2 The driver switch seems to have a lot of play versus the other switches.
3 I have checked all the connections and also there does not seem to be any shorts in the wiring.

With all that being said does this sound like the switch? Is there a way to test the switch? Could it be something else? I am trying to eliminate one thing at a time. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

You almost surely need to replace the window regulator motor. You can get them at junkyards or ebay.

The switch does not control speed, if it were bad the window would not go up at all. Try spraying wd40 or silicone lubricant into the windows channels and see if that helps. If no then most likely pdq is right.

Thanks for the info on my window problem. I will try the wd40 trick. I used that on my honda when the windows would get stuck. Also if I have to change the window regulator is there info on tips to do this swap? Thanks again for all the info.

Try cleaning the upper and lower channels rubber insert, they get a lot of dirt buildup. And make sure the rubber inserts are in place in the channels and not mis-formed.

For lube I would go with white grease, Maybe try some on the regulator as well.

I read another post about it might be the actuator may need to be greased more. I think I will try that first. Also is there a step by step method to just replace the motor and not the actuator.

thanks

Actually that tutorial is from the user RinconRolla98.

There's a chance you just need to grease the tracks (ie it's filled with dirt and sticky), but since it goes down okay, my bet would be the motor is almost burned out.
