1ZZFE vibe to corolla (2000) swap

I am looking to do an engine swap, and read many threads here that with simple intake, ex man, knock sensor a later model engine can go in with no trouble.

I can find lots of better deals for some reason on low mileage vibe/matrix 1.8 1ZZFE engines than corollas.

Are they the same?

(I discovered this by searching for 1.8 toyota engine on ebay, I found a local wrecking yard that has 4 matrix engines under 50K miles for around 900 dollars, but the one list for a corolla is an 05 with 109 k for $1100 dollars) according to car-part.com they dont interchange.

Any idea if i keep my bolt on ex and intake if a matrix engine would work?

I am also doing an engine swap: putting a 2008 vibe 1ZZFE into my 2001 Prizm. I wasn't smart enough to ask about compatibility, I went ahead and already bought the engine I just haven't had time to do the work yet.

Hoping someone has some good news for us
