Rattling coming from engine, power steering pump?

I have rattling coming from the engine, sounds like its coming from the pullys. Does not rattle when engine is cold, what i noticed, when turning the steering wheel (left or right, driving or still) the rattling stops! is there a changable pully on the steering pump or could it be something else? Thanks

Could be a number of things causing a rattling noise on the pulley side. The noise going away when you turn the steering wheel is likely NOT a problem with the power steering system, as turning it is loading the belt. Power steering pump issues manifest more as a whirring noise (sounds like a supercharger) than a rattling noise. Though it probably is a good idea to double check all the pulley bolts to make sure they haven't worked loose.

More than likely, this noise could indicate a loose belt, worn belt, bad belt tensioner (common), bad idler pulley, or bad pulley on one of the accessories (A/C, alternator, P/S pump).

To narrow it down to a pulley/tensioner, you can pull the belt off and run it for just a bit. I just tracked down my rattle to the belt tensioner shock. I narrowed that down by putting some pressure on the belt tensioner and it went away. Then removed the belt to make sure.

Also, mine only rattled at idle after warming up. The idle was too high when cold. I didn't have a good wrench to get the whole tensioner arm off, so I just swapped the shock. No more rattle for me. To bad that shock isn't sold seperately (i don't think it is at least). The whole arm at Napa was $110. So I still have a brand new arm minus a shock.
