Hello, new to the site and first post...OK so idk if its me or what but i think my corolla is making like a sputtering noise, i notice it more when im going up a mountain...long story short some guy that had his license suspended crashed me while i was at a complete stop waiting for my light to turn green. This guy was driving a Ford pick up with off road tires and lifted, nothing, i mean NOTHING happen to his truck, not a scratch...Both me and my dad got covered, but the my corolla just looked like shit, the front bumper cracked in half, hood was like a spoon, both head lights cracked and some stuff under my hood bent...
basically the corolla is not the same after this incident, but being a collage student with just enough for books and supplies i cant afford to buy another corolla plus I've been driving this corolla for a long time already and just love it.
here is a link to a video showing the engine of the corolla running, hope this helps, if not i can make more videos
The corolla is unfinished, my uncle gave me some fiber glass body kit, the back bumper i need to find out of a way to make it look nice since its weird, the front i cant properly install it yet, wire is holding it because one of the bars is all bent up, i need to replace it so the front bumper can sit nicely. insurance gave me enough money to fix it up but i want to know if its worth fixing or just save what they gave me to buy another one...The car itself runs ok in the city and freeway, but its just the sputtering noise going up mountains and when i go over 60. car still gives me 28+mpg city, 38 highway. let me know what you guys think. thanks
Didn't quite catch the sputtering noise you were mentioning, the car engine sounds like any other 1ZZ-FE out there, maybe a tough louder.
Most of the damage looks superficial - radiator support looks like it was pulled back into shape. Note that panel will no longer be as strong as before, better to just cut it out and weld in a new one - otherwise, the next time get into a frontal collision - it will just cave in.
Can't tell if there is a lot of damage to your intake manifold - lots of stuff could be hidden under the engine cover. Did you check for leaks / cracks around the engine - loose, missing, or damaged vacuum hoses?
Hard to say just by looking at the video - if you got some still shots of the damaged areas, that might shed some more light on this. Sounds like you have driveability issues when the engine is under load - could point to quite a few things. Too many to list without first narrowing it down first - if you could tell us what parts got initially damaged, engine-wise, that would be very helpful.

car does not leak, we checked it out...the radiator support was bent pretty bad, we tried to fix it but im afraid if i pull up more it will snap or something cuz its tilted downwards and wont let the bumper sit nicely...there is some bends and cracks, i will take some pictures right now and post them.
The joint between the manifold and the down pipe can make a sputtering sound if the gasket is cracked or missing( common).
Does the noise get louder when the ground is wet ( when raining)?
It is most noticeable in the rain going up hill.
Did you get anymoney from the dirtbag who hit you?
I have been hit by three unlicensed drivers in the last 5 years( two cars totaled).Got to love California!

here are some pictures
the right side cannot sit properly, im guessing because of the front radiator bar?
i dont remember seeing those cracks
i think its hanging
WTF? electric tape?
looks like i need to get a new one
happen when the douche hit me
no cap, this is the a/c line right? to refill it, since idk but i get no cold air...

Sorry didnt have time to look at all the pictures closely, but in #8 it looks like your reicever is missing and that broken line is a liqiud tube from your condensor. No wonder you dont have air.
is it this that im missing? dam this car is not the same...
how would i install it?
on pic8 i feel a hole on the bottom of that piece, it goes in there? but how would i replace the broken pipe?
would i find this at pick n pull?
also notice on pic10 the hole that gets the air for the intake was sideways, my buddy told me if i put it the way its pictured the car would get more air that way...is it ok like that?
