Could mean a number of things:
P0440 - Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
Could mean that the gas cap is not installed or working properly (bad seal, not "clicking" closed), the purge solenoid has failed, vapor canister is clogged (overfilled from pumping past the shutoff point) and not working properly, or any number of electrical and/or vacuum hose issues by the vapor canister.
This has be discussed pretty often on the site - as it is a common issue with some 8th gen Corollas/Prisms. Might be easier to search for the P0440 and see, collectively, what the most common fix was.
