Heater Core to Engine Hose Question '99 VE

Prestone's backflushing kit says to put the flushing T in the line that goes from the core to the "upper engine" as opposed to the water pump. The hoses on our 99 Corolla both sorta head towards the driver's side of the block and I can't tell which is pump-bound and which is headed for the block. I'm spozed to put the T in the "inlet hose, so is the inlet hose the top or bottom one coming out of the firewall. Yeah, shoot me for using this method, but I'm too lazy to pull the ridiculously hidden thermostat just to flush the antifreeze like Haynes says to.

If anyone has a better work-around for this coolant flushing procedure, I'd be all ears.

Thanks

Since on one replied, I guess I'd better post the results. I went to the Toyota Dealer in town and two Techs couldn't figure it out either. They got out the factory manuals and there were on coolant flow diagrams in there. Finally, I pulled the top hose off and had my wife open up the heater and start the car. Coolant spewed to the core from the top hose, so I was left with the impression that the bottom hose is the inlet hose for the back flushing T to be installed in. I didn't do it this time around, but likely next time.
