Grinding/Whirring Sound?

The front end makes a grinding/whirring sound when i suddenly give it a lot of gas from a stand still. The sound is more noticable and require less sudden throttle when turning and accelerating from a stand still.

when the car is already moving, and i choose to mash the gas, it won't make the sound. It's only when the car is not moving and i give it a lot of gas.

Is this a worn wheel bearing?

You can check your bearings but it sounds to me like a worn engine or transmission mount.

I don't think its possible for me to check that? Wouldn't that require removing the engine?

You can check by yourself by shaking the engine with your hands. If the noise happens check which mount is worn. Lift the engine enough with a jack stand and remove the mount.

i've tried shaking the engine and it seems nice and stiff, so i don't think its the engine mounts.

Have a friend around, pop the hood, rev the engine while its in park and see how much the engine moves. If it looks like a lot of movement, its a mount.
