Changing Instrument lights (A/C, Temp)

Hey everyone, I have 2002 Corolla S and since my instrument cluster is red and so is the font on my pioneer radio, I was wondering how I would go about changing the default green bulbs behind the AC controls including temperature to the similar color of red on my cluster.

My other question, but I think is pushing it, to be programmed from the ECU or a new clock: Is there a way to change the analog clock from green font to red? I'm pie in the skying that one haha but might as well wonder.

But yeah the LED lights for the temperature panels could theoretically be replaced I just don't know where to get the bulbs and how to get to them. Any ideas, websites, points in the right direction?

Thank You

I believe the clock is driven by LED light(s) on the PCB. If so, you could desolder them and replace with red LEDs from Radio Shack, assuming you have basic soldering iron skills.

That's how to remove the HVAC controls panel :

Using a screwdriver, remove the center lower cluster finish panel, then disconnect the connector. (Pry near/behind the ashtray)

Remove the HVAC faceplate and pull on the controls. You will get access to the LEDs.

Now you have two choices : you remove the tinted plastic cap on the light bulb and you replace it with a red one or you buy the light bulbs already tinted.

About your clock, you can't bypass the PCB limitations on the clock. However you can remove the clock and replace it with the default faceplate that comes standard when you don't take the clock option with the car.

I can give you schematics on how to bypass the clock green illumination but it's touchy.

Max.

The clock display is VFD / fluorescent tube. It is always going to be green.

Yank out the clock and mount a Scangauge in its place perhaps?
