2001 Toyota Corolla power window conversion

Hey all,

new to this forum as I needed some help with the girlfriends car. She currently has a 2001 Toyota Corolla LE, completely base model. Some time ago, she got an aftermarket alarm (a cheap one, might I add) to help get power locks. Over time, the lock actuators I believe are shitting out and needs to be changed. I figured while we're doing that, why not do a power window conversion!

I am mostly a Honda guy myself as I am part of Honda-Tech and 8thcivic.com. Ive done the power window conversion on my old Ek Coupe in the past, but civic parts are vast.

My question is, when it comes to the power window conversion, obviously I need the motors, locks, actuators, etc. But im also wondering about the compatibility of other cars. I have search through vast amounts of junk cars at local pick a parts with no luck in sourcing an 8th gen corolla to begin this conversion.

If you guys have any tips, advice, pointers, recommendations, etc., it would be greatly appreciative =D

I don't think LE is the base model... the CE is. You can source parts from anything in the entire 8th gen - 1998-2002. You could also try Chevy Prizm from 1998-2002. For a power door/window conversion they would be the same.

You would be changing from a aftermarket, standalone door lock actuator to a door latch with the actuator built in. If the car in question did not have power door locks from factory, the rear door would not have the hole needed for the wire to go through. You may be better off trying to source the entire rear door from a car with power window.

Knowledge is king. Before you start anything, go to techinfo.toyota.com, pay for just enough access to pull down everything related to ZZE110, FSM, wiring diagrams, everything. Then go to villagetoyotaparts.com (yes they are a dealer but have the most comprehensive cross referencing facility since toyodiy got crippled) and cross the related parts. Wires have label identifying their part numbers so you can tell you have the right part.
