Sharing a thought i had...

So i don't know how i came up with this but here goes.

So you know how the stock intake sits right??Right. And what if i was to remove the black rubber intake tube that is about 2.5" in diameter (from the intake air box to the throttle body) and replace it with a 3 inch pipe or aluminum pipe or so that fits where the rubber tube was, clamping from the throttle body to the intake box with those couplers. The way i see it it only needs to be bend at an angle about 80-90 degree and the couplers would be able to hold it in place and it wouldn't slip. Would that benefit anything at all besides maybe a little more air flow into the engine? And i don't think by doing that can mess up anything.

I just thought that maybe since being lazy to create a SRI or CAI...maybe this can be somewat close???

K&R sells pretty good kits ! Plus the car makes a very sexy noise

It is better to have a cold air intake because cold air + gas ignites easier and better.

You will however not have any significant performance boost ; around 8 or 9 hp on 1ZZ-FE with the K&R kit plus your MPG will decrease. (Cold or not, more air = more gas, the air/gas ratio never lies haha)

If you decide to do a do-it-yourself project instead, you will need to drill a hole with a plug in order to fit the EVAP air hose. You will need to drill a medium hole for the canister closing valve and a larger one for the mass air flow meter. Be sure to drill them at the same distance like the stock air hose.

I know that cai is better but like i said it was just a thought i wanted to ask to get over it.
As for drilling it the same distance, would it really matter since airflow is flowing through the whole thing or will it mess up the reading of the air?

It does matter ! The closer to the engine, the hotter the air will get read. Use a measuring tape and put little dots on where to cut through the pipe.
