Question 98 Corolla Fuel pump relay location

I need to know if there is a fuel pump relay for the 98 Corolla Ve, and if so where is it located and how do I test it.

Also, if you can provide me with link to a Shop repair manual for the 98-2002 Corolla i would greatly appreciate it.

EFI main relay, with relay removed continuity between pins 1 & 2 if open replace, no continuity between 3 & 5. Located in engine compartment in fuse relay box. if you apply battery voltage across 1 & 2 should have continuity between 3 & 5.

The only five pin relay is this one Toyota part number 85952-17010 Toyota sites say this is the main Fan relay

My fuse box cover shows a little black relay withonly four pins to be the EFI relay.

i know the little black one that has 4 pins is good cause I switched it with the Horn relay and the horn worked with either relay plugged in.

The Toyota relay number 85925-17010 has pins aligned like below.

| | |
|E 3|

Pins E and 3 are the only two that would engage the relay when 12 volts was applied. There arent any other numbers on the pins.

Two questions.

1. How do I know what pins are what?

2. Is the 5 pin relay actualy the fan relay or is it the EFI relay?

Oh, I pulled the old fuel pump out and directly applied 12v to it and it wouldnt do anything. I bought a new airtex fuel pump (dont know how good of quality it will be) But at any rate after installing it, the car still doesnt start. I cant hear the fuel pump come on. So I must have some sort of electrical problem.

I just need to figure out which relay is which, and then figure the pins out in order to test it.

in service manual page SF40 relay has 4 pins but toyota lables them 1,2 coil. other two 3 and 5. so if power to 1,2 closes other two relay would be good.

pin 1 I I pin2

pin 5 -

pin 3 -

1 & 2 are vertical 3 ans 5 are horizontal
