Master Clutch Cylinder or Slave Clutch Cylinder?
Hello,
I want to thank everyone who post on this site. It's great. I've been able to fix my mass air flow sensor, brakes, rear brakes, head lights, and starter from information i've read here. Thanks again for all your contributions.
Lately, my clutch pedal has been "spongy" or loses pressure at a stop light. The clutch pedal will fall straight to the ground (when in neutral) and will not go into any gear. I have to release the pedal and repump the pedal in order for it to go back into gear. The clutch itself seems to be fine. It does not seem to be slipping have any problems engaging while i'm driving or even when i'm at a stop light after i've repumped.
From all the reading i've done on the sight, it appears to be a problem with one of three things: the pressure plate (no idea on who to diagnose), the master cylinder clutch, or the slave cylinder clutch. I have fluid in the resevoir although it's a bit dirty. I learned how to bleed the clutch and did not notice any air bubbles or changes in "sponginess" after. Neither the master nor the slave have any apparent leak and I've inspected both well.
I"m resigned that one of the two have failed. How do i tell which one to replace? Or do I replace both?
Any help or comments are most appreciated!
Thank you,
Alphy
p.s. i have a 1999 corolla with 195k miles on it. I've had it since mile 7. It has zero mods on it and gets 33-34mpg. I change the oil regularly, (have the oil loss issue i've read about here with 99 corollas), and it's been great to me all these years. Don't know that the day will ever come that I'll want to get rid of it. Air still blows ice cold.
