98 Corolla Oil Burning
I just picked up my 98 Corolla about a month ago and I'm already in love with everything about it. The only major problem is she burns oil, and I'm just trying to figure out my options. I tried to do a google search but I found nothing. Here's some background. The car was from Wisconsin. The owner drove it to Kentucky for college, and it just sat there until she as done and headed back. It did a lot of sitting. I thought maybe that's why she was burning oil, but after driving it for a month now and also replacing the pcv valve just incase that was clogged, I still have the smell of oil burning as well as a blue smoke coming out of my muffler, especially when I accelerate quickly. Right now I'm running thicker oil, 10w 30. I gave her a oil change as soon as I got her, as well as some other misc. things like new plugs and wires. If I could get some advice on what else to check? I thought it could be stuck rings, and maybe even stuck valves but I'm not 100% sure. Thank you!
