Will these tire sizes fit?

Hey guys,

So I have a 1999 Chevy Prizm. As far as I know it's almost exactly the same as the Corolla. Anyway, as crazy as it sounds, I do alot of rugged trail driving with my car and I want to fit bigger tires. From my own measuring, I assume these tire sizes will fit on a stock suspension, am I wrong?

Front: 225/60R14
Rear: 195/65R14

Thanks!

Whoa, way too big. Get a Jeep for that kind of driving. At least a RAV4.

So what is the biggest tire you can fit on the front? Measuring tells me that the front can fit bigger tires in the front compared to the back, I think most people just don't want to put bigger in the front because of looks.

I can't afford a Jeep haha.

I just put 195/60/15 on, The fit good, no rubbing. It is as big as i would go though. Yours work out to be the same size except for the back being a bit wider... wich i dont think would be bad. When i felt around the tire there was plenty of room to go wider. I would put the 225's on the back because they don't turn. Then if you are worried about rubbing get some rubber spring spacers to stiffen up the spring a bit. I would throw them on without any worries

Can anyone confirm first hand that a 215/60R14 will not rub in the front wheels? Some people say they will and quote that 195/60R14 is the biggest size you can fit when I know that 205/60R14 will fit in the front just fine.

I assume it won't rub, but why not just go with the 205 because 215 is too wide.

I'm running 205/45/16 on 16" Enkei WDMs on my 2002 Corolla S with no issue. I have KYB GR-2 struts all around and TRD lowering springs on the front shocks. I've had a little bit of rubbing when I have 5 people in my car with the rear tire, but no issues otherwise.

Why would you want to go that wide on the factory wheels?

Any prospective performance gain would be negated by the limited selection of tire choices in those odd sizes.

I go to the desert alot and from time to time get stuck in the sand. I'd just like to get the biggest possible tire. It would be great to be able to fit these in the front: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

And for the rear I would put 195/60R14 with some kind of all season tread.

I'm thinking that those 215/60R14's will fit in the front, but it would surely suck to buy them and have them not fit!

Thanks for the help guys!

Why not go with a taller 70/75 series tire and see if it fits

Hmm well, I don't think a 70-75 series in a 185 and wider would fit, but I could be wrong.

I'm not sure about the physics of driving in sand, but I assume that a wider tire would sink less so any height gain would be neligible if the tire is wider.

no matter what size tire you decide to go with let some air out while driving on sand, even 10psi less makes a world of difference on sand. Just make sure you bring a little compressor to fill them back up after

Yesterday I saw an 8th gen corolla that had 185/70R14's on it. So that size should fit? My rear suspension is jacked up at least an inch from stock.

Since 205/60R14 fits in the front without rubbing at all, do you guys think that a 215/60R14 will fit? That size is the same height as the 185/70R14 but obviously wider by a bit.

on the rear wouldnt that rub the struts? i mean i have a 91 corolla, and that size rubs the strut, i just added a wheel spacer so it wouldnt, but now i dont run that anymore, im on 185/60/14 now. idk dont quote me on this though, its been awhile since i have owned a 8th gen. but on my 8th gen i had a set of rims that were 205/55/16 and they rubbed the fender in the rear, so i ultimately just rolled the fenders...

O sorry I think I wasn't clear. My idea was: 215/60R14 in the front and 185/70R14 or smaller in the rear.

I'm just wondering if the front would rub with 215/60R14 cause it looks like theres much more space in the front for bigger tires than the rear. A bigger tire like that would help me driving offroad I'd guess.
