Window motor and regulator replacement

I'm replacing both window motors and regulators on my 2001 corolla. 1st problem is my original regulator has 6 or 7 bolts and 1 stud that is made on the regulator that a 10mm tap goes on the back ( side facing me where the other bolt heads are ). I have tried Napa, Autozone, and Advance and all of their regulator will fit , but none of them have the stud made on them like my original Toyota does that the 10mm tap goes on. Had anyone ran into this before- do I just not worry about it and let the other bolts hold it in place and forget about the stud. You can't get the stud off the old one- its impossible. Next question does anyone know what I can use to reseal the water shield with, the original black material is coming off when I removed the water shield last time to check the motor and I know this time I will need some type of adhesive or caulk to hold it in place. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

You have me confused, and I've done this job before. I never remember any 10mm bolts or nuts being used, only 6mm ones; unless you mean 6mm that uses a 10mm wrench.

"Taps" are used solely for creating threads, and never used to fasten anything down. So I'm at a loss there.

I do kind of remember have to do something to fix something that was poorly designed on the Cardone Select window motor/regulator I bought. Do you mean there was a rivet holding it in? I know one of my installs (I've done window regulators on about 10 cars in my life so I really don't remember which one it was on) I ended up drilling the rivet out and just using a nut and bolt to secure it back in place. You can buy a rivet gun if it makes you happy though.

As for the black sticky stuff I just reuse it and use packing tape over it to hold it as well. It's worked well for the years that have gone by, and that's in AZ heat as well.
