I hope by 'downshift cable', you mean the kickdown cable in question.
I am able to drive fine if I don't accelerate too fast and let the car take its own time to come to 55-65 mph driving speed.
However, if I push the gas pedal a bit more (for faster acceleration), the car starts to misbehave.
I see the following: Say I try to accelerate faster at point A and drive till a red traffic signal (point B) and then stop there. When I put my foot on the gas pedal at pt. B on green signal, the engine revs but the car is sluggish to move. After a few seconds, the car picks up speed and then behaves better at higher speed till the point where I have to stop again.
If I pull over and then push back the kickdown cable by hand, the car behaves fine again if I don't try to accelerate it fast.
I hope I was clear.
BTW, the cable has not snapped, I can't pull it all the way. It's just the spring.
My question is if just the spring could be fixed or I have to get the complete cable replaced?
