USA Throttle valve / Kickdown cable question

The TV/Kickdown cable in my 2001 Corolla S doesn't spring back anymore. I have uploaded a video showing the problem:

Seems like a spring has gone bad.

What would be my best option? Getting a new cable from the dealership or trying to find a used cable at the local junk yard.

Is it possible to just replace the spring instead of whole cable?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does the downshift cable still work when you floor it?? Are you able to drive it normally?

Can you pull more of that cable out by hand, if so then that cable probably snapped but if not then something else.

I hope by 'downshift cable', you mean the kickdown cable in question.

I am able to drive fine if I don't accelerate too fast and let the car take its own time to come to 55-65 mph driving speed.

However, if I push the gas pedal a bit more (for faster acceleration), the car starts to misbehave.

I see the following: Say I try to accelerate faster at point A and drive till a red traffic signal (point B) and then stop there. When I put my foot on the gas pedal at pt. B on green signal, the engine revs but the car is sluggish to move. After a few seconds, the car picks up speed and then behaves better at higher speed till the point where I have to stop again.

If I pull over and then push back the kickdown cable by hand, the car behaves fine again if I don't try to accelerate it fast.

I hope I was clear.

BTW, the cable has not snapped, I can't pull it all the way. It's just the spring.

My question is if just the spring could be fixed or I have to get the complete cable replaced?

My advice, a new cable over a used one. I offer 30% off MSRP to TN members and only charge actual shipping costs plus $2.00 for materials, etc. But my advice is the same whether you'd buy from me or not, if you need a cable, get a new one, not used. With used, you don't know what you're getting or how long it will last, unless you plan on getting rid of the car soon, in which case, then I'd get a used one, but not sure how well you'd be able to find one used.
