2002 Tail Light & Instrument Cluster Problem
My daughter the soldier has a 2002 Corolla with 75k miles. A couple weeks ago the instrument cluster and tail lights went out. The fuse blew. Replaced it and it was good for a couple weeks and then it blew again. I checked the wiring all the way from the license plate lights, to the tail lights, and up to the fuse block and nothing looked amiss. I put a new fuse in, turned the headlights on and after about six minutes the fuse blew. I suspect a relay is failing in an unusual manner after it heats up. The electrical schematics in the Haynes manual shows a tail light relay. I don't see a tail light relay anywhere. Is there one? If so, where is it? Just like the schematics show, when the fuse blows all the backlighting on the center console switches, the instrument cluster lighting, the tail lights, and license plates go out. Any suggestions?
