cruise control question

so i got a 01 corolla LE, they say the cable that runs on top of the air box is the cruise control cable. my corolla has that, but my steering wheel does not have the cruise control stick. my question is if i get the corolla S steering wheel with cruise control will it be plug and play or do i need to buy like a computer for the cruise control?

I want cruise control because i use my corolla for long 2-3 hours trips.

thanks guys!

The throttle cable runs over the airbox whether you have cruise or not, but if it has cruise it will got to the actuator that is mounted to the firewall/ inner fender near the wiper motor. If no cruise, it goes directly through the firewall to the pedal.

I just installed OEM cruise on my '01, I pulled it from a wreck, and it was a bit of a project. Cruise isn't prewired if not factory installed, I removed the cruise wiring from the main harness of the donor car, loomed it separately, and tied it to the existing harness in my car.

Yes, you will need the cruise control actuator from the engine bay as landphil said, but once you have that hooked up, you have to make sure you get the cruise control computer that mounts to the right of the glove box inside the car. It removes with one bolt and plugs right in given you have the right instrument panel wiring harness that has the available plugs. If not you'll have to pull it from a wreck, which is a bit of a project.
