Have you done a comprehensive tuneup yet?
Check and replace sparkplugs as needed, this engine tends to do best with the OEM Denso or NGK dual prong copper plugs or you can use a single prong Iridium plug.
Check condition of plug wires and replace as necessary. Replace PCV valve if you haven't already done so, good idea to replace this every 30K miles, pretty cheap part.
Check condition of vacuum hoses, replace as necessary.
Usual fluid and filter changes (oil and oil filter, air filter, ATF fluid and filter if automatic, gear oil for standard shifts. Would be a good idea to flush out power steering and brake fluids every other year. P/S uses Dexron II or compatible ATF - if you want the clear stuff, go to a Toyota dealership - they sell ATF based P/S fluid that does not have the red dye. Brake fluid - go with a good quality DOT3 or DOT4 glycol-based brake fluid.
Check tire pressures (30PSI is the minimum I would personally run, most have good luck with pressure between 32-35PSI, some hyper-milers run more pressure - do not exceed the max cold inflation stamped on the tire's side). Make sure alignment is spot on - easiest way to tell is to be mindful if the car is pulling while at speed and look for abnormal tire wear when rotating tires.
Cleaning the throttlebody will greatly help idle quality. Lots of resources online on how to do this yourself. Just make sure to use a O2 sensor safe solvent when cleaning the TB.
If all of that is checked out and you still notice that fuel economy is considerably lower than before - possible that your primary O2 sensor is dying. This is especially true if fuel economy has been taking a steady nose-dive over the last couple of months. If you only noticed the fuel economy tanking the last month - possible that your area has started to introduce "winter" blended fuel. Most areas start around mid-September - some stations haven't exhausted their "summer" inventory yet, so not all are using the winter blend. Just switching the gas can have a huge impact on fuel economy - 10%-25% loss in MPG is not unheard of.
