Car making rattling noise

wow, that engine is filthy. my vote is for either a slipping belt that churps9kind of sounds like a rattle) or a water pump that has lost it's bearings.

maybe other have good recommendations.

My 2000 VE used to make exactly the same noise when entering the highway, now the Power Steering Pump ''Pulley'' is loose! possible cause?

Reminds me of a bad bearing in the water pump. Slip the belt off and start up the car, see if the sound goes away.

My 2000 Corolla makes the EXACT same noise... at least until the power steering pump decided to seize up on me last night... no joke. PS pump = gone. Rattling noise = gone.
