Link Pin?!?!?

I have been recently having a lot of noise coming from my car. I thought it was the struts, but after going to my mechanic today he says it is the "front link pins". He also said that my struts weren't leaking, and my ball joints and tie rods were good. He said he couldn't see anything else being to blame.

What and where are these, can I replace them myself???
He quoted me the price of 100 for parts and 43 for labor.

Are they connected to the sway bar?

They're called stabilizer end links, or just "end links". You can get them at any parts store like AutoZone for under $20 each.

This one? The straight one?

or this one, the one with two angled sides?

I am pretty sure I can handle the task myself, I just want to pick up the part after school, and would like to
save myself an extra trip to the auto parts store.

Thanks!

Link Pin

For the fronts it's the 2nd link (looks like a U).

Honestly, you should just let the mechanic do it... bring him the parts if they are cheaper at the auto store. Read this form about people replacing their Sway Bar Links (your mechanic called them link pins) and you'll see how much damn trouble they are. They always rust and then you have to cut them off and grind the bolts off.

Both my fronts and rears both were rusted to the sway bar. 2001 corolla S

Good Advice

You are probably right about the rust. I am originally from Texas so no rust, but I have lived in upstate NY for 2 years and I am surprised at the amount of rust out here!

You are right, I should just buy the parts and take them to him. Sound advice from a guy with a cool name!
