Sylvania Cool Blue vs. Stock GE bulb comparison

Ever wonder how they compare? Here are some photos. I will grab more later showing the the increase or lack of increase in visibility when shining down the road or at a wall.

As for now, you can get a sense of the color. All photos shot with canon S90 with auto white balance. Varied the shutter speed so you can see the difference. Driver side is stock, non-driver side is the Sylvania Cool Blue bulb

Obviously the lights are much brighter than what you see. I dialed up a faster shutter or else everything would be washed out and too bright. You can get an idea of how bright each light is by comparing the brightness at each shutter speed. That is all for now - hopefully I can find a nice wall to show some more comparison pics another day!

I personally have the Sylvannia Silver Star Ultra's on my Corolla. big difference. some people say they dont last very long, but i've had the bulbs past a year and use this as my daily driver.

I personally dont like the "blue" look.... but hey, whatever floats your boat

i've had a hit and miss with the SilverStar.

my first set, the right side lasted 6 months while the left reached over a year.

my second set both lasted a little over a year.

I had Sylvania Cool Blues on my Maxima. They went out after a couple of years, but they were so dim that I'm glad I had a chance to replace them. I changed to Sylvania XtraVisions since then and happier with them.

That's about the color difference I remember with between the original and the Cool Blues also.

Yep, the tinted coating on the bulb reduces the visible light output despite the color change. Xtravisions are great bulbs for a great price.

The look actually isn't blue at all. It is advertised as "cool blue", but they are barely white - nothing close to silverstars

Agreed - I wish I had known this earlier and would have got the XtraVisions instead. Oh well, need to wait for these to burn out! The color is indeed a little whiter, but light out put is no different if not worse.

Sylvania head light does not last

It only lasted 2 years before the filament burned out. I went back using GE. It is more than 4 years now, it still works.
