po755 and po500

ok the other day i took off at the light and i noticed my car wouldnt start shifting till it hit 3k to 4k rpm. 10 miles down the road it starts shifting at 2k rpm. now 15 miles down the road its back to normal. i stop in at auto zone to get my code read and it says po500 (speed sensor malfunction) and po755 (solenoid "b" malfunction - ssv sl2). the next day i do about 100 miles and everything is fine and check engine light goes away. so now i full up and i decide to take off at the light again to see whats happens. bam, same crap that happened yesterday happens again. i drive it around for a good 20 miles hoping it would come back to normal again. nothing. drove it 30 miles today still wont shift till i hit 2k rpm. so my question is do i need to replace the speed sensor, shift solenoid b, or both?

Could just try just replacing the speed sensor and see how that works out - cheaper than dropping the transaxle pan and tearing all the guts out to diagnose it.

But this was a problem on other Toyota models - like the Camry and Rav4 - if you got both of those codes and there was a previous electrical change/problem (jumped the car, battery is dying, added new headunit, blown out lamp, etc.) - possible it is caused by an electrical issue inside the ECM. Had nothing to do with the transaxle or speed sensor.

Try resetting the ECM and see if the code comes back. If it stays off, chalk it up to an electrical gremlin - if it comes right back, then you likely have either that faulty part or the ECM is on the fritz, not seeing clean chassis ground.
