Radio Scans By Itself

Hi everyone!

I have a 1999 Corolla CE with around 175K on it. The radio (radio/cassette) works OK, but sometimes after we turn it on it just starts scanning by itself. The radio will stabilize if we press the "Scan" button. It seems to happen more on hot, humid days when we have the A/C on, but can happen any time. Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution? Is it better just to get a new radio? Can one be had from a junk yard for cheap? We are in Northern Virginia in case you would like to recommend a junk yard.

Thanks in advance!

Ron
