Sea Foam Help

I've been wanting to sea foam my 2001 Corolla LE for awhile now. I've always added it to the gas but that's about it.

I keep reading about adding it to a vacuum line, but i have no clue where one is or which one to use.

Does anyone have a picture of where i should add the sea foam to a vacuum line?

I would advise against it. Use Techron concentrate plus in the tank towards the end of your oil change.

I've been using Seafoam in my old Corolla for years.
Bought it with 60k miles, now has over 200k. Brake booster line works just fine. Just keep your finger over the tube and SLOWLY add 1/3 a can. Let it set 5 minutes afterwards, then enjoy the smoke show. It will only smoke if there was carbon build up. Mine smoked BIG TIME the first time. But it ran so smooth afterwards. I personally know a lot of people that use it as well. Never known anyone to have problems with it. Although there is probably somebody somewhere out there that has done something dumb with it.

I use it regularly in my Scion as well.

Techron has never cleaned my engines inside as well. Is there a known issue with Seafoam? Because I have always had great results. I even got an old Buick that could only run on 92 octane fuel without rattling to run smooth as new on 87. Techron failed to fix that.

I only use fuels with Techron anyways.

The issue with seafoam is that it can damage your cat and 02 sensors.

The huge amount of smoke is from the oil in it( 40 -60 % pale oil).

It smokes whether there is carbon build up or not. Besides the oil thats already in it, you are potentially breaking loose
carbon that does not burn and passes right into your cat clogging it( large amounts of oil dumped into the the cat over a short period can cause serious overheating / melting). I have seen this many times with old and brand new cats ,that were ruined and had to be replaced after sea foaming.

You can knock carbon loose with water( been used for many years) added the same way and its free, though I would not recommend it either.

These methods were fine ( if you were careful not to hydrolock the engine) in the days before 02 sensors and cats.

The only time this needed to be done/ was any benefit, was when the carbon buildup was so bad that it was causing knocking and pinging.

If you are having problems with your engine then fix the real problem.

Brake booster line works. It's debatable how much this actually helps and it can harm your cat. I seafomed mine once after a bad (dirty) MAF sensor and associated misfiring left carbon gunk all over my plugs (and presumably the rest of the engine). Cleaning the sensor (2 cents worth of contact cleaner) and the plugs corrected the misfiring and made the most difference.

The seafoam didn't appear to destroy anything and MAYBE made it idle a little smoother. That's hard to really say though as cars sound extremely unhappy when you pour seafoam into them. Hearing a car recover from a minute or two of coughing and smoking will always seem like an improvement. I'd say the "improvement" post-seafoam was more likely a combo of the placebo effect and the ECU re-learning following the sensor cleaning and a reset.

It can also clog up the ocv filter and break loose some parts of the seals and the gunk on them causing oil leaks and the factory seals are already known to have leaks without any help from solvents.
