Parking Brake Wire.

I'm installing a new head unit that has a wire that must be connected to the parking brake wiring to disable the video playback when moving.

What is a quick and easy connection I can get to under the dash without having to tear the whole center console apart?

You can get to the park brake switch through the shifter boot, at least on a manual trans, and should be able to thread your wire up through the console without pulling it apart. It's sorta open along the carpet on the lower front edges.

If you just connect that wire to ground, you will never have to worry about putting it in park before using the functions

That's what I ended up doing.

That is also a possibility.

I asked Crutchfield Tech Support if the wire has to go to ground or to +12V to enable the video but he said he couldn't tell me for "legal reasons". i.e. he doesn't want Crutchfield to get sued because he told me how to bypass the "safety" of enabling the video to be played while the car is in motion (even though I am not stupid enough to try and watch a video when I'm driving).

He did did tell me that I should connect it to the red-black wire which is what I did.
