Not the starter again 99 corolla

I will make this quick, maybe a coincidence, gets a little cold, go to start the car, and just a buzz, maybe a click not sure, mom's car, I went over to jump it, and she was in it started right up, 50 degrees today. battery is a year old, starter is 2 years old, tested with volt meter, battery good and alternator was working, I am thinking the starter is going again, first one i put in, had trouble 2 days later, took it back, gave me another no problems till now.. any input please, I would hate to take the car back, and she gets stuck somewhere.. thanks kappy

Check the battery cables, make sure the connections are clean and tight. Also, I honestly don't know off the top of my head but I would imagine there is a ground strap/cable somewhere that goes from the engine block to the chassis. Check that as well.

The fact that you have had this much trouble, even with a new starter, makes me think it's not the starer.

I have replaced lots of battery cables and block to chassis ground cables on the early 90's Accords. On those cars it's way more likey a cable than a starter. Not sure on the 8th gens though.

If you turn the key and hear a single click but no crank, it's likely the starter solenoid contacts being worn out. Often a second turn of the key will work and you get a crank. The contacts get worn out after 100k miles or so and need to be replaced.

If you get a crank but no start, it's probably the battery.

OK GUYS PROBLEM SOLVED FOR NOW, I did a battery draw test, first fuse I pulled was the dome light, and that was it, had a feeling it was the dome, because seams like these car have a history of a loose bulb or switch, wifes car does the same thing, but not enough to kill the battery, light flicker when turning the overhead light switch off, mom has no radio or clock now, but does not need them, been good for weeks now.. one time I took it to the shop, and they told me I had a loose postive connection to the bettery, I did not belieive that.. did not charge me anyway.. I am not stupid.. thanks for all the help. great site and smart people here, maybe I can help you out one day, ask away thanks Rick
