Talking Lowering

I would like to lower my 1999 corolla. It currently has stock suspension and sits on 17x7inch rims. Right now it sits a little too high for my liking and if I have 3 or more people in the car my tires start rubbing against the strut braces :/ If I could take care of that problem as well that would be great! Any ideas on what brand or type of coil-overs or lowering springs to get? Or if i can even lower it at all and still maintain a quality ride??

Best regards
-ROLLA

If you want ride quality stick with lowering springs and struts.

Tein S-Tech springs + Tokico HP struts would be a good combination for your needs.

I think you might need a little fender rolling if your gonna drop it down with those 17 inch rims.

I was worried I would need to cut into the fender. The wheel wells are already pretty small as it is. Maybe I should just try and find some smaller rims, 15inch perhaps. My rims are wider than the factory ones as well so my turn radius is reduced and they rub the strut braces fairly easily

  1. How wide are the wheels?
  2. What's the offset on the wheels?
  3. What's your tire size?

  1. The wheels are 7in wide
  2. The wheel offset is 42
  3. The tires are 205/45 R17's the dimensions right now are 23x7 so about 3in on either side of the rim.

i think anywhere with 15 to 16 inch rims that is 6.5 inch or less wide.

Yea I think the width plays a big part cuz the strut brace is like RIGHT there, Im going to do some shopping around and see whats out there.

I will probably still wind up getting lowering springs though because ill have a larger wheel gap due to the smaller rims. (I'm still going to want to run low profile tires)

Are the factory struts compatible with aftermarket lowering springs such as TEIN?

yes but the factory struts will die out soon if you use it with lowering springs.

If the wheels rub you might need a minor fender roll and some spacers to push them out further so they clear the struts.

I've seen people roll on bigger wheel setups.
Roll your fenders and you should be fine.

Like mentioned for ride quality Tokico Blues + Tein S
for more low look into Ksport coilovers.
