Thanks Breye, if that's all, not just the trasmitter, wow! Sadly though, it does not seem to be sold anywhere in the US. I take it that you are in Canada?
I bought this same unit, looked like a good one so I went with it. I'm having a hard time deciphering the wiring schematic that came with it, can you give me any tips? I mainly want to know which wires I can tape up and leave alone, and how to splice in the remote start wires. The terms used in the schematic don't make any sense to me.
First off, where on the steering column/dash/etc do i need to open up to get to the appropriate wiring? I have several wiring diagrams, layouts, etc, but not really where to access it.
When you say the door clickers don't work - are you talking about your existing keyless entry system or the actual switch on the door itself?
If it is on the door itself, you'll have to address that first, as any aftermarket system will rely on those solenoids to lock/unlock your doors, control the starter relay, etc.
If it is an aftermarket system - have to figure out what killed it. If it cooked some of the wiring, it could make installing an aftermarket replacement a nightmare. Sometimes the keyless brain will just flatout die, but that is pretty rare. Usually the wiring gets buggered up and you'll eventually have to deal with that.
I have the starter installed. The lock/unlock works, the starter starts, but then dies.
I have an assumption, but I don't know. My 99' Corolla doesn't have an electronic truck release (right?) and is just a hand-pull cable release.
Because of that, I can't/don't wire the electronic trunk release from the remote start kit.
Problem is, part of programming it includes holding down the trunk release button. I'm not a bettin' man, but my money's on the programming not working because I don't have the truck release wiring connected.
Also, i'm assuming it's not starting and staying started, because it's in tach mode, and i haven't hooked up the tach wiring, cause i'd like to avoid it if possible. I wanted to use the programming (via the trunk button) to turn it to tachless, but haven't been able to.
The clicker light actuates but does not open the doors.
The push button switch on the inside of the doors work fine. (In answer to FishExpo's question) I can't help you redfenix, have you managed to finish the install?
Yea I felt the same way. None of it made sense to me but after hours of studying about it, I finally figured it out. Most of those wires you are not going to use.
Hope that helps. oh and its only the green and yellow highlighted items. If you have anymore questions let me know and ill try to answer them the best i can. Good luck!
Ok, I went through and marked the same wires that you marked on your diagram. The rest of them I removed completely from the harness. Here's what I've got going on so far: (haven't actually done any splicing yet)
Remote Start Harness:
H/1 - black/white
H/3 - blue/red
H/4 - Red
H/5 - pink/white
H/8 - White
And I came to that order by this picture:
Now then, am I correct to assume that all these wires will be "piggybacked" off the harness? I plan to strip an area on the wire and solder the remote start wire directly onto it.
These are the wires I am hunting for now:
Horn output
Unlock in/out
Neutral safety
Brake shutdown
tachometer
Yea they will be piggy backed. I just used a splice connector. I also used the blue/red wire for accessory but the heater would not turn on with remote start. I ended up using the black/yellow wire for accessory.
Can you tell me where you hooked up your tachometer and horn wires? My door locks work now but the horn doesn't beep and it doesn't appear to be picking up a tach signal.
Ok, could you pretend I'm dumb for a moment and tell how to locate that wire? I've been looking for pics all over but can't find any. And to my knowledge there are actually two coil packs, yes?
