Wheel Help on 2004

I was trying to rotate my grils wheels last night after fixing a flat. I could not get the rear wheels off the car no matter what I tried or how hard I kicked the rim to try and break the seal loose. I got the lug nuts off easy but wow I have never seen a tire so stuck. I could not remove it at all no matter what I did. I had to hang my head and replace the front tire as I never was successful in removing the rear ones. .

Has this happened to others? What would people suggest to get the rear wheels of this car. I am concerned because if a flat ever happened in the rear of that car i could not change it the watthings are right now.

Thank You for the help

I had the same problem when I switched from my winter rims to summer. I ended up taking it to the shop and the guy used a huge mallet. It came off in one shot.

He said it's due to corrosion and suggested to put some anti-seize compound around where the wheel meets the hub.

Good luck.

The anti sieze compound sounds like a good idea I hate having to go t othe shop to get the wheels of but the large mallet sounds like something best left to them as if it bounces off wrong and hits the body of the car I am not the one on the hook for the damage.

Any suggestions on what would be a good antisieze compound to put on the hub?

Non-metallic anti seize compound... several makers make them.

I am not sure I would try that with my own car but if you want me to see if it does not bust the bolts on yours I would be glad to.

I just see so many things possiily going wrong with that I could not try it even if others have.

ok well i did this once in afghanistan but tis probably a bad idea... but it was a humvee and we didnt give a fuck so...

we take off all the lug nuts and if it wont come off, just drop the jack, and hopefully the shock will loosen the rim, but its probably a bad idea because you could seriously fuck up the hole that the lug screw go in, or the screws themselves. but just an idea thats what we did once haha

large plastic type sledge hammer! carefully hit the tire, if you are worried about it hitting the car, try to hit the bottom center of the tire. or pay $35 and have a shop rotate them.
