Corolla 2006, won't accelerate??

Hello Everyone, I have a Corolla 06 CE.

I am running with some trouble and I thought someone could help.

Whenever I try to start my car, SOMETIMES it will turn on, but sometimes it wont, the times that it does turn on, the car will actually move if I put it on reverse, or in drive...nevertheless when I try to accelerate by pressing the throttle, the car wont speed up.

I have no clue what it could be, the latest "different things" I have done with the car were:

1.- oil change last week (dont think this is the reason since I drove a 600 mile trip this week)

2.- two days ago I put the "cheapest" gasoline

would any of that matter?

I was thinking it could be something to do with the computer, like some sensor that prevents the car from moving so that it wont mess up the car more? I dunno

I am not sure, I am not an expert when it comes to cars.

any help will be really appreciated

thanks!!!

Check engine light on? Sounds like another bad ECU from your description. Are you under warranty? If the CEL is not on, pull the negative battery terminal for 1 hr and see if that helps. If it is on, and you can get to autozone, they can read the code for free.

Could you have filled up at an E85 pump just before driving home? It could explain why the gas was cheap and why the car has a hard time starting

Thank you for your response, well I have the CEL on BEFORE turning the car on, like if I put the key and just twist it once, IF i get the car to turn on, the CEL wont be on. I dont have warranty anymore . Do still think think Iit could work if I disconnect the negative terminal?

Maybe the gas had water in it?

If its just low octane gas, just top off with some plus or premium and see if that makes a difference.

Also have you had your battery checked? This could be why it has trouble starting and possible why it could be causing electrical issues.
