Hello all, I am new to this forum. I just wanted to drop in to let you guys know that we are thinking of getting rid of our family corolla. Since you all are more familiar with what these are worth maybe you could shed some light. I know it sounds weird but we have a 2003 toyota corolla ce with a 6 speed transmission in it. I dont know how it got there but we have had it for a while now. We commute from dallas to houston on a regular basis and it has 114k. Anyways since I looked on nada for a price quote and it wont let me select 6 speed transmission as an option I am curiouse to know what I should ask. Is 6000 reasonable. Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a great day
I don't believe this came from the factory. I'm assume this is 2nd hand car. It is possible the original owner swap out the tranny, but it highly unlikely.
The 6 spd tranny is available on the XRS trim. Are you sure you have 6 forward gears and 1 for reverse?

If you click on porscheman82 pic gallery you will see them. Fyi I posting it for sale later for 5900. If you guys are interested let me know. Clear title 114k miles. Recent tires. No upgrades other then 6 speed transmission. Car is abnormally spunky. I used to own a corolla in high school and it was a 2000. THis runs nothing like that one. Weird huh..
I cant tell exaclty from the pics that it is a 6 speed, but I believe you.
I didnt know that my 05 LE has the same speedo as an 03 CE. I know the 03 LE has the same speedo as an 05 S. Weird.
Just curious, what does your VIN start with J or T or some other letter?
You are not the original owner?
I did not know the XRS tranny could fix on the 1zzfe. Does the VIN on the tranny match the VIN on the rest of the car? (obviously it wont if you bought it used)
I dont understand why a 6 speed would be in a CE, but not an S or LE.

Looks like things were changed. The C60 is an easy swap, just needs a few misc items to make it function. The previous transmission could have had issues so this was was used or the previous owner did an auto/manual swap.
No, I am not the original owner. I purchased it from another family man. Whenever people get in my car and I point out the 6speed monogram on the shifter they make a weird face. " 6 speed on a corolla" . Well I like it and the car is very spunky . Great gas mileage between houston and dallas. If I didnt buy my lexus I would keep it. Has served me well during the fuel crisis. I hope someone with enjoy it

Your '05 LE should have the Optitron meters. The '03 CE in this thread doesn't have them. It looks like it at first glance, but they're not...they're the stock CE gauges.
The 5 speed tranny on this generation corolla is defective. They dont last much longer over 100k miles. Im having issues on my 2003 corolla. Im doing research to see if the 6 speed have the same issues. I havent found any complaints on the 6 speed trannies so i am mostlikely going to do the swap my self.
Only the XRS came with the 6 speed manual with a different engine. The gearing and final drive are all designed around the 2ZZ-GE engine and its high 8400 rpm rev limit.
On a 1ZZ, it must be horrible to shift so much with such short gearing on only 6200 rpm redline.

Coming from an drive by wire 2005 automatic supercharged 1zz corolla to a 2005 6 speed XRS I could only laugh at your post because I felt the pain they must go through but that all goes away when I hit lift
and btw even though this thread is so old at the OP for believing he had a 6 speed 2zz-ge tranny in his 1zz because he had an xrs 6 speed shift knob on the inside.
