Corolla Brake Pop

Hello all, I am new to the board, so what's up.

I did a search before post so maybe someone can direct me to an old thread if available.

My 2008 Corolla S has issues with this poping sound from the front brakes when I go from reverse to drive and vice-versa. I've done a few more searches via google and have found a few people with this issue.

The car guru in me tells me that perhaps the calipers are loose and when the wheels go in a different direction, the brakes are poping back and forth, but hey what do I know? Im at 24K and i've seen two others on the web that say this starts around 15K (as it did with me)

Anyone with similar issues and if so, has the dealer done anything about it?

Actually, Toyota has a service bulletin that address this issue for just about all models. Lube the brake pads where they come in contact with the spring clips that they ride on in the brackets, so the pads will move freely.

Im assuming that according to your post this is a known issue with other models besides the rolla, right?

I got limited tools, but i'll be removing the front wheels to take a look and plan on lubing the springs you mentioned. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and keep complaints of my brakes to a minimum (and at the same time make me feel assured my brakes actually work for a change!)

Thanks for your direction!

Though this bulletin # is a little old but it is applicable: http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost...ng%20noise.pdf

You can also take you car to a dealer and tell them you have a rattling or squeak noise from the front brakes and they can correct that under warranty.

Ya, the car is under warranty. Keep your tools in the box. Welcome to the forum!
