I'm not sure how you would do that but in my opinion I would just put in a aftermarket head unit and you will enjoy the sound much more. Oh and with the aftermarket install kit you get an extra cubby hole.

I believe that you can splice off the rear channel, and get some in-line crossovers, then run those to the amp. Your problem is connecting the rear channel to RCA most likely...btw you still have to run a power to the amp, so its going to be just as much as a pain as if you got a new head unit...why not?

In my 04' Corolla, I still have the stock deck. I used a line converter to end up with RCA inputs.

It taps off of the main speakers as a speaker level input signal and converts it in to RCA's to run to your amp. The easiest installation method is to tap directly off of your rear speakers on the deck and down to your amp.

Most entry level amps have speaker level inputs on it. This way purchasing a line converter is not needed.

What amp, sub, box, and power wire are you using? Is your power wire, and remote wire installed?

A line output converter can cost anywhere from 20-150. The one you need should be on the lower end of the range as you only need to convert 2 channels.

Hey I was just offering an option to you...

Take the cover off from around your shifter and work your way up to the radio from there but be carefull when you go to remove the panel with the two cubby holes it's flimsey and when thats done there should be four bolts holding in the head unit. Oh, most things just pop off except the radio...
