2006 Corolla Tire Size

On a 2006 Corolla S, the factory tires are sized at 195-65R-15 and they are CR*PPY tires (Bridgestone Insignia)

I am looking to go with General Ulitmax HP's. I wanted to go with a little bit wider tire for better grip/road contact.

The 205's are good for a 5.5" - 7.5" rim width.

The 215-60R-15 would require a 6.0" - 7.5" rim width.

Would a 215-60R-15 tire be OK on the factory rim?

Which would be better, the 205-65R-15 or the 215-60R-15?

I'd probably prefer the 205/65R15s. The 215/60 will be pretty squatty on our stock wheels. I almost put 205/65s on mine, but stayed with the stock size (195/65R15, like yours).

I agree. I will go with the 205/65s. That are not that much wider and have a higher load rating of 1,477 LBS per tire compared to 1,356 LBS per tire for the 195/65.

How about a 205/60???

A 205/60 would be shorter, by almost 1/2", compared with the stock size. I generally prefer taller tires...they tend to fill the wheel well better. I'm not necessarily a fan of lowering vehicles. I do think if you installed 205/60R15s, you'd feel the need to put some drop springs on it to take up some of the wheel well gap.
