Door Open Indicator won't go off

I've got a 2003 Corolla LE. The Door Open light won't go off. I went to every single door and manually pushed in the sensor and the light still won't go off.

Help...

remove the rubber grommet where the sensor is located and see if it gets stuck. It may not be making a full connection and therefore not registering that the door is closed.

I agree with MrSo0h0o. I would also check to see if one of the door sensor is disconnected. It could just be a bad wire and and that is just the problem.

Guys, I checked all the door sensors by removing then like you said above, checking the connection (simple two wire set up) and the switch, but the light ajar indicator still won't turn off. Now what???

O.k Skuby I have a question. Does it also effect the inside dome light? If it is just the indicator light on the dash and not the dome light you should be able to find out which door sensor is bad by just seeing when you dome light isn't affected by the closing door.

Yes, I open each door individually and the dome light turns on everytime. I let it sit for a moment, then the light turns off. I even tried this manually by pushing the switch in and the dome light turns on/off when it's suppose to, but the Door Open Indicator Light still stays lit on the dashboard. I even tried the trunk switch, but I think it only affects the little light back there.

I was thinking of ordering one switch (under $18 online) but the guys said each switch for the doors is different meaning that I'd have to buy four (4) switches. Is this true???

Anything else that I can do to troubleshoot???

O.k Skuby I doubt this is going to work but, try disconnecting the battery and then reconnect it and see what happens. You never know.

Door switch on my left door is the culprit. the switch on the side could not reach it. this is a result of the door repair I had. was too late for me to notice after leaving the garage. Patching a 2 way tape on the place where the switch is hitting made my door indicator work perfectly.

Isolating the door switch did the trick. thanks a lot.

I also have the similar problem. I had the door window glass mounting bolt recall done at a dealer. After that, I notice that the indicator light on the dash sometimes won't go off completely. I pushed every sensor but wouldn't work. I also notice that this tends to happen when the weather turns cold. I was so regretted that I chose the dealer to do the recall instead of myself. I decided to check the door some day. Anybody has any advice?

By the way, the man at the dealer also lied to me, saying that my car had a serious old leak and tried to sell me some very expensive service. He may not know I did every job myself and I check the oil level at least once a week. I will never return to that dealer.
