03-09 radio question help

I have a chance to buy a used 09 radio with an mp3 player to go into my 03, anyone think it would be a trim fit or is there a big difference from the 03 to the 09 types, how about the wiring, they look close to being the same, I'm not looking for better sound quality I just have a lot of mp3's I would like to play and this price is cheap!..Thanks for any input!

try it before you buy it. If not then you can always make it work. I say gor for it. Why not just buy an aftermarket HU that plays mp3?

Right off the bat, it looks like the mounting is a lot different. The 9th gen radio has 4 mounting holes on the bottom. That 10th gen radio looks to have 2 mounting holes on each side. Maybe that's just a bracket change, I don't know.

The 09 unit also looks like it gets wider towards the top, and it is WAY to tall to fit into the opening. While our stock head units are double din in physical size, the opening in the dash, and thus the front of the unit, is maybe 1.75 din instead of double din.

i didnt notice the mountign clips or the shape of the radio. i think you are SOL

Thanks for all the input, maybe I'll pass on this, too bad Toyota didn't have any mp3 options for the ninth generation

Another thought I had -- if you're going to R&R the radio anyway, just get one of the MP3 input harnesses and plug that into the back of the radio. Then you can plug your MP3 player into it and listen to it just the same...and not have to change your radio.

you could always grab a scion tc headunit. iv seen them in a 9thgen corolla before
