03 Corolla Can't Start, No Turn, Just clicking

I have an 03 automatic corolla. In cold weather (I am in Austin Texas so it's not really cold at all) the engine won't even crank when I try to start it. I can hear the clicking sound coming from under the glove box, but that's about it. I won't start. When it's get warmer in the afternoon, then it would start just fine. I just got a brand new battery, so it's not the battery.

Just one click or several clicks? Are the battery connections clean and tight?

Thanks for the reponse.

It just one click. This morning, I jiggled one of the starter wire and it started fine. The battery connection is clean and tight. I am wondering if the starter connector is dirty.

It is possible; however, it is also very common that when the contacts inside the starter wore down over time to just click one time and not turn the engine over. Did you hear any sound or noise from the starter itself?

Do a search on this site, you will probably find a lot of similar posts from different models.

had same problem on tacoma

i put new walmart everstart in and problems continued. Yellow johnson control battery has better specs and can help older starter work better. My dealer replaced metal contacts inside the starter but looking back wondering if battery was the real fault
