USA 2004 LE Sound System Components

I'm looking to upgrade the sound system in my car (2004 LE), but not looking to go overboard. I only want to replace the speakers and maybe add a 250-300 watt 4 channel amp - but I do not want to replace the head unit. Does anyone know what size speakers are in my car, as well as the general specs of the head unit? Does it have an aux in jack?

Thank you.

Changing head unit http://www.net4free.org/Other/nshahzad/stereo.html

install/remove Front Speakers http://2k7corolla.blogspot.com/2006/...from-2007.html
As for front speakers, you can just tear out the speaker coil and use the plastic flame to mount your new set speakers.

Change rear speakers http://www.net4free.org/Other/nshahz...rspeakers.html

Installing Sub http://www.net4free.org/Other/nshahzad/ampinstall.html

Front should be 6.5 inch, and the back is 6 x 9 inch. changing the front speaker is very easy, but the back you have to remove alot of things. I will give you the guide for the front door

This is what I have used for my Aux in my 05 corolla:

I dont know if it'll work for an 04, maybe just pull your deck and see if there is a connection for that white jack. Then normally just hitting the CD button changes from the Aux-in to standard CD

Put a complete system in my 08...I would say just drop in a new head unit personally. It will probably be easier to get a 200W unit in then wireing in a seperate amp. I picked up a 50Wx4 for $100 at crutchfield. Replacing it isnt too difficult, unless if course you want to keep the stock look. I havent found newer toyota radios all too reliable also...just my opinion.

I really like the stock radio, plus I don't have too much cash for this project. I just want good quality sound that's pretty loud but not ridiculous because it's still a Corolla. I was looking at some MB Quarts that have a 50 rms each and high sensitivity rating. Do you think the head unit will be able to power them even though they are kinda low end?

I believe the stock speakers in mine, in the rear anyways were rated at 17.5W each. My new ones are 300 peak, 60 cont. But as I said I also replaced my head unit. I also just looked at the stock radio...no amp ratings, but it does say 4-Ohm speakers. Hope this helps. Getting the rear deck out sucks too by the way...well in an 08 anyways. If you have any questions about it just ask.

BTW : 4-Ohms at 12V is 36 Watts...So it seems that the stock radio is rated for 36W Max. Per Speaker I presume. That being said, it will still power 50 rms, up to a point. But i assume that you dont go around with the volume all the way up...hopefully.

Haha of course not, I'm not trying to show off or anything. But I do like loud music - I'm just looking for loudish sound (nothing nuts) that also does not blur above 50% of volume max.
