Question P0135 code of 03 Toyota Corolla

Hello Friends,

My name is JERRY. I am a new member in this forum. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERY ONE!

My first question is about P0135 engine code of 2003 Toyota Corolla.

When I started the engine at a cold engine temperature, the engine light turned on and the code was P0135. After running the engine for about 5 or more minutes, I stop engine and disconnected the negative battery terminal for about 20 seconds or more, then I re-connected the negative wire back to the negative terminal of the battery. After doing that, I started the engine again at a warm engine temperature, so the engine light went off and the P0135 code disappeared. The disappeared engine code P0135 will come back again when I start the engine at a cold engine temperature.

Would you please help me to find out what cause the engine code P0135 on?

Thanks for your time and help in advance.

Jerry

Code p0135 is for an upstream oxygen sensor. Fairly common part to fail. Use a genuine Toyota sensor, aftermarket sensors are crap and don't last long.

You were on the right track by clearing the code. Since it came back, it is time to replace the front O2 sensor, it is located here: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_200....html?hl=89465

It costs $129 from the dealer, but can be purchased online for under $100. Stick with OEM sensors, you will likely have problems with other brands of sensors and the OEM is a direct fit.

Question P0135 code of 03 Toyota Corolla

Thank you very much for your time and comments.

The code P0135 appeared after my changing the O2 sensor Bank1 Sensor 1. The new O2 sensor is BOSCH O2 sensor. The O2 sensor heater resistance is about 3.8 Ohm. Is it possible the 3.8 Ohm too low caused P0135 code show up? because when engine is warm or hot, starting engine and the P0135 code will not show up. However, the P0135 code shows up if starting engine at cold engine situation.

Thanks again for your help.
