2008 Corolla Heater Underpowered

I have two Corollas.. 2004 is great. Heater and AC are sufficiently powered. I have noticed however on my 2008, during these winter months up here in NH the heater takes much longer to get the car to a tolerable temperature. I have even noticed when I put the fan on full the engine temperature indicator will drop!

Anyone else having these issues? I am wondering if it is designed weak or if I have a defective climate system.

Should be the same, since the 04 and 08 have the same mechanicals. If it is really cold out below 5 F, my '99 Corolla engine temperature will drop a little if I turn on the heat, but it eventually gets back up to normal. Another possibility is the coolant mixture strength. I think if the antifreeze is too high, the heater will not put out as much heat.

Interesting. I have origiinal factory coolant mix still. Wonder what they use and if it's heavy on the antifreeze side.

The other thing I noticed is that the foot well blowers are aimed above the ankles instead of directly at the feet which leaves my feet much colder in this vehicle. These are really the only differences I can see between the two cars. Probably not noticable unless you happen to have multiple corollas in your family to compare.

Same thing happens to me, but mostly when I'm sitting over something snow covered, like a driveway. Also only happens when bolwers at %50 or more. Its been below 10F here for almost a week straight, -28F last friday, which doesnt happen much here. I also suspect my CAI has something to do with this as well. I do notice that my car takes a lot longer to warm up compared to our Camry, even though mine is in a garage and the camry is outside.

My 03 starts blowing slightly warm air by the time I reach the end of my street about a 3/4th mile away at 0, I only leave it warm for about a minute or two, If you haven't checked it, check your cabin filter especially if you live near trees or blowing dust it can get dirty quick and restrict the air flow!
