If you run the wires from your new speakers into the existing speaker wire, you will get a parallel circuit aka put more load on that line (Rear most likely). It will work, but you will have less overall power to all speakers (Wont be as loud).

With your current head unit, your rear line will be rated at 22W RMS, your speakers are rated at 28W...so if your new (middle) speakers are the same as the rear, at full volume, you will have a load of 28 x 2 or 56 Watts. So in theory, it could work, although you should not turn your stereo up more than around 50%.

So if you usually keep the music at reasonable levels, it should work.

Now to clarify, by a 4 speaker system, do you mean you truely have 4 speakers, aka no little tweeters way up front (around the dash) and maybe front door speakers and rear deck speakers ect. You have a 6-ch head unit, so if the 6th isnt used, you could manually run the wire for much better results.

Got my system from crutchfield aswell, great service. 3-Ways do tend to have less bass than 1-way btw, so if you want more bass than treble, go 1 or 2 way...

thank for the quick reply. it really helps and yes it has tweeters. i think i m just going to replace the stock speakers. and think over the whole thing. i m replacing all 6 speakers because i want better sound dont really care that much for the bass (i mean i want it because i play loud bass songs but not the biggest concern).

heres the info on the the pre-amp

3-Sets of Preamp Outputs:
The KDC-MP538U features front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs. The Subwoofer preamp output can be turned On or Off and adjusted independently. The front and rear speaker preamp outputs are balance and fade adjustable. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs are all fixed to the rear chassis of the headunit.

there is nothing connected in the pre-amp outputs for now all the speakers are connected through the harness. and i dont know how to connect the speaker to rca

Finally crutchfield has the best online service i have ever seen. leave on the same day and gets to my house in two days. I have bought the stereo, accent lights and now speakers from them.

I'm assuming you're new to audio in general... you would actually connect an amplifier to the RCA pre-amp outputs via RCA wires, then the amp would provide the power to the new speakers. This is the best way to add extra speakers, but you're now getting into new territory as you have to run a power wire from the battery to the amp, then a remote wire to the amp from the headunit, then wires from the amp to the speakers...

I'd say talk to an audio shop if you've never done this yourself, you don't want to blow any electrical or even the headunit or battery.

if you splice into your existing speakers to add 2 you will turn an 4 ohm load into a 2 ohm load and the amp in your stereo will heat up

Just replacing the stock will make a difference...in my 08 the stock speakers in the rear were rated at 17.5 watts... New ones are 300 peak and 60 rms.

Now since your using the harness still, do you have your stock speakers in also? When you install your new ones, you can still use that harness, that way the speakers will be running off the head units amp, if you go and use the pre-amp, those RCA need to be ran to a powered amp, then normal wire from the amp to the speakers. So if you want to keep it simple, just stick with the harness, you'll still get better sound than stock. If you want to install an amp, you need to find a four channel amp.

Just stick with the head unit with no amp, install your speakers and see if the sound is good enough for you. If it is, keep it that way, if not, add a seperate amp.

Placing speakers under the seat is not going to do all that good. Mid to high frequency sound that is not directed towards the listener may sound distorted.

I'd suggest replacing the 6-1/2" speakers in the front. Or you could do the 6x9's in the rear if you wish.

You can not wire another set of speakers in parallel with the rear speakers. If your head unit outputs 22w at 4 ohms and is only 4 ohms stable it will not be able to produce 30-44w at 2 ohms. If you force it to do this, it will over heat the amp unit in the deck.
