the pad may be slightly loose or simply does not fit right and moving under light braking.

did you replace the rotors? if not then you will need to do so.

did you have the rotors ground? if so, then they are probably too thin.

have you done a bedding in procedure with the new pads?

Yes the rotors were turned and seem fine and yes to breaking in the pads.....

When I take the brakes apart and grese evrey thing up...they are fine for about a month...and then the clicking comes back.....low speeds/light pressure

It really sounds like the pads moving around....but everything looks OK

I've taken them apart a couple of times......and it still comes back

Its got to be something simple...but I just can't figure it out

Help !!!!!!!

I have the same problem

When I am braking lightly, it sounds like the brake pads are grinding - I don't know what it is... I took my wheels off and checked if the brake pads are worn but they aren't... They still got about 50% life... I am curious as to what it is... My car is a 2008. What year is yours?

is there any possibility this sound may be coming from the rear brake drums?

That thought actually came to my mind... I started reading about drums and how you should get them tightened? Somewhere along those lines, something like that... I was gonna take the rear wheels off soon and check it out (maybe after buying a Chiltons or Haynes manual or just take it to the mechanic.) It could be very possible... The car is nearing 18K, you think I would need to do something with the Brake drums already? I do not drive this car aggressively... It is my daily driver and I kinda baby it. I want it to last 3 or 4 million miles (sarcasm)... Let me know what you think.

i seem to remember some type of shim that clips on the end of the pad to take up some slack, this may have been brand specific though.

too many cars under the bridge to remember which one it was.

I used Toyota Pads and they fit into the holder rather snugly....so I just don't understand why they would be clicking/moving

I cleaned and lubed the slider pins...they look perfect

It only happens at low speed/light pressure

HELP

After further investigation, I have concluded that it is def. coming from the front of the car... Only in light braking also... Do you think we should take it to Toyota and they will cover it under the warranty?

yes at 18k i doubt that it would be rear brake related, but it's still possible though.

it's still under warranty, and so taking it to a toyota dealer you trust might be a good idea, that way if the problem comes back whatever they do will be under at least a 12month/12k warranty.

down side to this is that they may want to do another brake job which you'll have topay thier ridiculous prices for.

I highly doubt they will warranty the brakes after he did a repair to them.
unless it is a mfg defect which I do not believe it is.
