lowering my Rolla

Im thinking of lowering my 2008 Corolla S, not much maybe 1.5-2.0" front and rear, do i need new shocks when lowering a car or other parts?, i hear lowering a car will ruin stock shocks.

you'd be better off just getting new shocks that are made for lowered cars when you get the springs. It will just save you time from having to go back in to add the new shocks.

I went to a local performance dealer in my city and found a Eibach 1.1" spring set for 360$, i think thats to much considering that i saw Tien 1.5"-2.0" springs on ebay for like 100$ to 150$ depending on what company it is, but seriously are 360$ springs better than 150$ springs?.

From what I understand, Tein doesn't have a reputation for making the absolute best in parts.

Are Tien springs still worth buying?, or are they so bad?, becouse if they are simply not the very best thats fine, but can i trust them? in terms of safety and handling.

yes it will and it will CHEW your wallet. It will destroy your camber kit, control arm, cause toe wear, frak up you suspension, cause alignment issues and worst of the worst replacing those tires.....

From what I've gathered, they're okay, but you end up replacing them after a while, so you end up paying twice. And although I've not done lowering springs on the Corolla, I can tell you that's pretty much how ALL automotive parts are. If you don't buy the best up front, you usually end up buying the best in the end, and you pay to do the job twice. So just do it right the first time.

install trd lowering springs. they don't change your suspension geometry at all. you don't need to align front. stick with trd.

I bought my 2008 Corolla in Dec. 07 - After driving it, I realized the car handled like dirt... I bought TRD Springs, Strut Bar, and Sway Bar and installed all of them. The rear sway bar didnt seem to be really connected to the suspension to much... So i didnt know how much it helped. I did the TRD Strut Bar (which looks awesome - but noone knows cuz my Corolla is very plain looking but I just did it for the handling enhancement) The Springs werent bad at all to put in, and if I had an impact gun at that time - it would have been much easier (after I did that I decided to invest in a compressor and an impact gun just to help make things easier) But anyways, I have 19K on the car now and I havnt had any problems with the shocks or anything (just a weird sound that my car's braking system makes at low speeds) I would recommend doing the drop springs. and TRD stuff is still honored under warranty if you buy from the dealer, they are just expensive. Take it easy! Hope I helped.

if you want a 1.5-2.0" drop. try looking into: teins, megans, eibachs or TRD's. and yes it is true that lowering your car will ruin your stock shocks.
but majority of the people i know that have springs on their corolla's are still on stock shocks.. its really your preference if you want to change them right away.

what criteria are you looking for when lowering your car? handling, comfort, drop?
teins have 2 kinds of springs. one is more on looks(lower drop) and the other is more on performance/handling. its really up to you what you want on your car.

here's a list of few springs available for 03-08 Corollas.

Tein Htechs
Lower rate: 1.7F/1.8R
Spring rate: 129F/151R

Tein Stechs
Lower rate: 2.3F/2.4R
Spring rate: 140F/157R

Megan Racing
Lower rate: 2F/2R
Springs rate: 250F/230R

TRD
Lower rate: 1.25F/1.25R

Sprint
Lower rate: 1.75F/1.75R

Progress
Lower ratE: 1.8F/1.7R

Hotchkis
Lower rate: 1.75F/1.5R

Eibach
Pro:
lower rate: 1.1F/1.1R
Sportline
lower rate: 2.1F/1.75R

ive had Tein Htechs for about 6 months before switching to Megan racing springs.
Megans are stiffer than Htechs but the megans handle well on the canyons.

if you're looking for a stock feel go with TRD's. they don't drop as low if you're afraid of bottoming out or scraping your bumper.

If you had the strut bar on before the TRD springs (still with stock springs), did you notice much of a difference? I'm not interested in changing from the stock springs, but might like the strut bar. I installed one in a previous vehicle and it made a WHALE of a difference.

As with any strut bar, you'll notice that the car is quicker to turn in and respond to small steering inputs. There will be less front end roll as well.
