USA Rumbling/growling noise in cold morning

Hello
My corolla is 07, CE, auto, 18K mile
When the weather is cold (below 55 F), cold start and run, I can hear a rumbling/growling noise coming with engine noise. It also sounds like bubbling. (sorry, I dont know which word describes the noise best). It sounds like engine noise but it is lounder and deeper.
After running for a few minutes, car is warm-up, the noise becomes less and usually goes away. If the weather is warm ( above 60 F), the noise almist disappear. If listening carefully, I feel that the car is a little bit noisier than it was new. The little noise is similar to the noise describe above and is less loud and more difficult to distinguish.

Is the noise from tensioner or other possible reasons?
Thanks for any suggestions.
have a great one

It sounds like the tensioner or the serp belt. I am thinking it is more of the belt than the tensioner, since it goes away. Take it to the dealer and leave it over night so they can hear the problem. Being under warranty helps.

Mike I had the same type noise when I first started my car in cold weather especially in gear and it went away as the car warmed up, it was the tensioner, not saying that it couldn't also be just be the belt! As mike said, get it checked to find out for sure instead of hit and missing!

If it is the tensioner and your going to change it out yourself I have diagrams of the belt pattern and a blow up of the tensioner, I bought mine at autozone for $30 and it was the exact same German made as the original, good luck and PM me if you want the info!
