trailer hitch wiring

i want to install a trailer hitch onto my 2005 corolla ce. the hitch installation should be easy but i don't know about the wiring aspect. can anyone help me in regards to wiring. i don't know whether or not i will need to splce wires or is there a location where i plug a harness into. thanks very much for you help

I dont know how to wire a trailer hitch, but il tell ya somethin, dont try to tow anything heavy becouse this car aint meant for it, if you lug the engine to much it can cause pinging, you can also overheat the engine and cause engine knock, so its not a good idea to tow unless you own a diesel.

Wiring the trailer lights is easy. Buy the harness at a 'real' trailer place and then pay the guy ten bucks to hook it up. It will take him about five minutes, mostly moving your car into the shop. Don't bother creating problems you don't need by wasting a Saturday afternoon getting it wrong. (there is no 'plug and play' for this)

BTW, the Corolla tows a small trailer nicely, the hitch also acts as a good start for a bike rack. Don't haul your 20 foot, 150 HP bass boat with it.

i would be towing

a small jon boat 10 to 12 feet guessing weight for both boat trialer and gear maybe 800 lbs tops
