Engine Ticking During Acceleration

I have an 05 Corolla CE with 128780Km . The engine makes ticking noise during acceleration only, it is louder when the engine is cold. Fuel consumption and everything else are fine. Is it normal for this age of the car? I have been using Mobil 1 since 74000Km. I appreciate any help.

It sounds like it's most likely an exhaust leak. You can have someone block the tail pipe with a rag while the engine is running at idle and poke around the engine compartment to see if you can find where the exhaust is leaking through.

Uh... or maybe just reguar valve noise/lifters.... or even the injectors.... probably a normal noise.... Honda's and toyota's are notorious for noisy engines....

I don't consider my engine "noisy". In fact, you can't even hear it in most cases. Pulling into the garage with the windows down, all you can hear from the engine is a very muted purr. It's a very quiet engine.

The fact that the ticking noise is louder when cold usually typifies an exhaust leak.

My wifes 01 does the same thimg and has since new. The ticking is louder now but no performance problems, I will have my dealer look at on the next service.

Thanks for sharing everyone. I fixed that noise. What I did? Change oil with Mobil 1 regular 5W30 not the "Extended Performance". Did this myself. I happen to put the oil level 3/8" passed the "full mark", I''m not sure if this also helped. It's been 5-days now, I never heared that ticking noise again.

How many miles were on that oil change? Was the oil low when you drained it?

It was 6,600KM from the last oil change and the level was about 1/4" below the "full mark" before drain.
