Help with Transmission Drain and Refill

Hi guys!!

I need tips and advice on doing the "drain and refill" method on my moms 05 corolla ce auto.

I was thinking of also dropping the pan but i dont know what parts I would need if I do that...

All that I know in doing the drain and fill is that the items that I would be needing are as follows:
1. Toyota Type T-IV transmission fluid
2. Transmission Drain Plug Gasket/Crush Washer

and of course tools...LOL

I know thats like the basic stuff needed to do the drain and fill. I need to know what else do I need if I'm going to drop the pan because I am also thinking of dropping the pan and cleaning the magnets inside..so when I go to the dealer I could get everything needed...

I would really appreciate the inputs guys!

well, as a minimum you would need a new gasket....
in most of our corollas the "filter" is actually a steel mesh that needs to be cleaned; some people say there is a filter; I have not seen one.

You also need a "torque wrench", as the torque specs for the pan bolts are very low; easy to overtighten.
Maybe somebody can jump in with the actual in-lbs value for those bolts; I need to do some file searching to find; will get back once I found them.

Good luck
PS: here is a good read in general:

thanks for the reply wernermeister!! actually I already had read the thread that you posted before I posted my questions...

anyway is it the same method on draining the transmission fluid on the 05 corolla?? I mean is it just the simple drain the transmission and then just fill it up with T-IV fluid where the transmission dipstick go?

just need to make sure about the the procedure...

hope to hear back from you guys...

thanks!!

Yes, it is that easy, easier than an oil change, make sure you have a funnel that fits in the narrow dipstick tube.

Oh yeah, it is about 3.2 qts per drain and refill. Measure what you take out and check the fluid level when hot.
